Classical Concert at Davis Mountains State Park Offers Sneak Peek of Lodge Renovations

Visitors to Davis Mountains State Park were treated to a delightful hour of classical music performed by the Cielo Trio, featuring local musicians and park host Sue Whitmer. The concert, held at the end of October in the historic lobby of Indian Lodge, not only provided a cultural enrichment but also a sneak peek at the nearly completed renovations of the lodge.

Nestled in the rugged high desert of Far West Texas, Davis Mountains State Park is celebrated for its mile-high views, dark night skies optimal for stargazing, and a range of outdoor activities like camping, hiking, and birding. The park is also steeped in history, with many of its facilities built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) during the 1930s.

During the event, attendees could view the progress of the ongoing renovations at Indian Lodge, which are scheduled for completion in early 2025. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department shared a photo capturing the updated interiors, giving the public a glimpse of what to expect once the lodge reopens.

The renovations have taken longer than expected, but park officials express their gratitude for the public’s patience and enthusiasm. Regular updates on the renovation progress and reopening details will be shared by the park authorities.

This classical music event underscores Davis Mountains State Park’s commitment to offering diverse visitor experiences, even amidst enhancements to its facilities. The park continues to be a premier destination for those seeking adventure, scenic beauty, and now, cultural events in the heart of Texas’ vast wilderness.
