Alpine Independent School District (Alpine ISD) welcomed Texas House Representative Eddie Morales and his wife, Hellen Morales, during a campus visit this week. The visit allowed the representative to interact with students, staff, and administrators across several campuses, highlighting the district’s achievements and engaging with students on state and national political issues.

The day began at Alpine High School (AHS), where FFA seniors Reese and Kendyl greeted Rep. Morales. The students presented him with medallions designed and printed by Mr. Vaughn Grisham’s graphic design class, a project made possible by a donation from the Brown Foundation for a laser engraver. Rep. Morales then led a Q&A session with students from Mrs. Cox’s Principles of Law and Ms. Parson’s History Fair classes. He shared insights about his role in the Texas legislature and answered questions on timely political issues.
At Alpine Elementary School (AES), Rep. Morales was welcomed by 4th grade student leaders Anson and Rebekah, who guided him on a tour of the campus. He also had the opportunity to present the Student of the Month awards to AES students who demonstrated exceptional qualities as Fightin Buck scholars. The Student of the Month program is sponsored by Big Bend Telephone.
The visit continued at Alpine Middle School (AMS), where 8th grade student leaders Leah, Reyna, and Isela welcomed Rep. Morales. During his time at AMS, he celebrated two staff members, Mrs. Tracy Perdue and Mrs. Lynne Crim, with Strong Start Shout Out gifts provided by Gumslingers. Rep. Morales also stopped by the junior high football media day for a quick chat and photo with the team.
Throughout his visit, Rep. Morales expressed his appreciation for the hard work and dedication of Alpine ISD students and staff. He also made a donation to the district to support beginning-of-year expenses, further demonstrating his commitment to the local community and public schools.
“We are proud to have Rep. Morales as an honorary Buck,” stated Alpine ISD representatives in a statement.
The visit was a chance for students to engage directly with their state representative and for the community to showcase the positive developments within Alpine ISD.
