Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Seeks Experienced Lodge General Manager for Davis Mountains State Park

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) has announced an opening for a seasoned Lodge General Manager at the iconic Indian Lodge, nestled within the scenic Davis Mountains State Park in Fort Davis, Texas. This senior-level management position is pivotal in overseeing the operation and maintenance of both the lodge and the adjacent Black Bear Restaurant, ensuring the preservation of natural and cultural resources while providing exceptional outdoor recreation opportunities.

A Blend of Nature and Hospitality:

The role, classified as Park/Historic Site Superintendent V, requires a unique blend of skills in hospitality management, natural and cultural resource stewardship, and customer service excellence. The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including but not limited to, overseeing food and beverage operations, hotel lodging, sales and marketing, staff recruitment and training, and financial management. Requirements and Qualifications:

Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and at least six years of experience in hospitality services related to overnight camping parks, hotels, motels, lodges, or similar establishments. Additionally, three years of supervisory or team leadership experience are required. Preferred candidates will have a background in Hospitality Management, Hotel Management, Business Management, or a closely related field, coupled with bilingual skills in Spanish and English, and experience in restaurant management and staff training.

A valid class “C” Texas driver’s license and a Food Service Operations Manager certification issued by the Texas Department of Health must be obtained within stipulated time frames after employment. Knowledge of park and hotel operations, customer service practices, and the ability to effectively manage finances and resources are essential for this role.

Working Conditions and Benefits:

The position offers a competitive monthly salary range of $6,802.88 – $7,642.88, with a standard 40-hour work week that may include varying schedules and the requirement to live on-site in state-provided housing at a nominal rate.
