Alpine High School Art Students Marvel at the 37th Annual Trappings of Texas Exhibit

Art students from Alpine High School recently had the opportunity to experience the rich cultural and historical tapestry of Texas when they visited the Museum of the Big Bend. The highlight of their visit was the 37th annual Trappings of Texas exhibit, which is currently underway.

The Trappings of Texas, running from September 14 to November 4, 2023, stands as one of the premier exhibitions showcasing contemporary western art and bespoke cowboy gear. This year, the event boasts participation from over 50 artists, each presenting their unique interpretation of western aesthetics and culture.

As one of the oldest exhibitions of its kind, the Trappings of Texas serves as a testament to the enduring legacy and evolving narrative of the American West. For many of the students, the visit provided not just a chance to view exceptional art but also to gain a deeper understanding of the state’s rich heritage.

Art enthusiasts and collectors are sure to find the diverse array of paintings, sculptures, and custom cowboy gear a delight. Whether a seasoned art lover or someone curious about Texas’s storied past, the exhibit promises a rewarding experience.
