An impressive expansion is underway in the Trans-Pecos region of Texas, with a total of 254 new hotel rooms set to come online. This growth is part of a broader trend of hotel deals and projects aimed at increasing the region’s appeal to visitors while providing locally inspired amenities.
Byway’s Hospitality is leading this expansion by adding 30 rooms across two cities. The deal includes the acquisition and renovation of four hotel properties, with 20 new rooms planned for Alpine and 10 for Fort Davis.
Adding to the excitement, the High Frontier hotel and event venue, scheduled to open in late 2023, will offer accommodations for 91 guests in 18 ranch-style cabins. The venue’s desert charms include a farm-to-table restaurant, wellness center, hike and bike trails, and an outdoor pool.
Further growth is planned along U.S. Highway 90, with a new 47-room hotel boasting features like a pool and spa. Another 47-room hotel is being planned for the southern edge of the town of Marfa, further adding to the region’s capacity.
Perhaps the most significant development is the planned 120-unit hotel called El Cosmico. With a focus on both guests and locals, this facility will include amenities like a restaurant overlooking the Davis Mountains, a large swimming pool, a bathhouse, and space dedicated to art and skills-building workshops.
The combined increase of 254 hotel rooms marks a substantial boost to the Trans-Pecos region’s hospitality and tourism sectors. With a mix of luxury accommodations and unique local experiences, these projects set a new standard for hospitality in the area.
