El Cosmico, the famed bohemian campground hotel in Marfa, Texas, is expanding to offer something new for visitors seeking a unique living experience. Sunday Homes, a collaboration between hospitality visionary Liz Lambert, architecture firm BIG-Bjarke Ingels Group, and 3D printing technology trailblazers ICON, offers a minimalist and biophilic design, that promises to create a communion with nature.
Reservations for Sunday Homes’ three unique floorplans range from 1,500 – 2,400 sq. ft. and start at $900k, and are now open for the waitlist. Interested parties can submit a fully refundable $5,000 deposit to join the reservation waitlist, which offers early information about Sunday Homes and the project, but does not guarantee the right to purchase or reserve a home.
The silo-inspired structures, designed to maximize natural light and provide expansive views of the Davis Mountains, offer a new way of living at the intersection of nature, art, and culture that define El Cosmico. The strategic placement of windows and skylights throughout the homes allows for an abundance of natural light to fill the space, while the back porch is shaded by an oil pipe trellis that serves as a frame for vines and plants.
All of the segments that comprise a Sunday Home are contained within their own circular modules, which build a unique, cloud-like floorplan from the sum of the combined circles. The curved walls are made possible by the capabilities of ICON’s 3D printing technology while adding strength and beauty to the overall structure.
Sunday Homes embody all of the values that define El Cosmico – living life at the pace of the rising and setting sun, a steady balance of engaging in creative pursuits and time spent idly gazing out across the plain, and the sense of community found around the campfire. Sunday Homes residents will have access to all of the amenities of the new El Cosmico, including a circular infinity pool and bathhouse, a restaurant, a working garden, and more art-making facilities.
