The seventeenth edition of the Trans-Pecos Festival of Music + Love, hosted by El Cosmico, promises to be a grand celebration as it marks the end of an era on its current land. The festival, scheduled to take place from Thursday, September 28, to Sunday, October 1, 2023, will bid farewell to its original location before relocating to a new plot down the road.
El Cosmico, renowned for its authentic music experience, has curated an impressive lineup for its 17th birthday party. The headliners include popular bands Spoon, Neal Francis, and The Heavy Heavy. Joining them on the stage will be Meshell Ndegeocello, Ben Kweller, The Suffers, Mexican Institute of Sound, Jess Williamson, Kara Jackson, Heartless Bastards, Robert Ellis, Ross Cashiola, Hello Aqui, and the El Cosmico Family Band.
This year’s festival will be the last opportunity for attendees to revel in the unique atmosphere of the original El Cosmico location. The festival’s future iterations will be held at a reimagined and expanded El Cosmico, featuring innovative 3D printed structures developed in collaboration with ICON, a pioneer in large-scale 3D printing, and BIG – Bjarke Ingels Group, a renowned architecture firm. The upcoming El Cosmico community will also feature a collection of BIG-designed and 3D printed residences called Sunday Homes.
While music is the centerpiece of the Trans-Pecos Festival, the event goes beyond mere melodies. Festival-goers will have the chance to camp amidst the enchanting backdrop of the West Texas desert and engage in various artistic activities, workshops, and day parties. The festival will also host a vibrant vendor marketplace, a pop-up desert spa named El Cosmetico, a barber shop called El Cosmicuts, food trucks, and even tattoo services.
Weekend festival passes and on-site accommodation packages are currently available for purchase, offering attendees a chance to secure their spots at this memorable event. For further inquiries, interested individuals can reach out to events@elcosmico.com.
Workshops and additional details about the festival will be announced later this summer, building anticipation for the extraordinary experience that awaits.
El Cosmico extends its gratitude to its party partners, including Herradura, Slane Irish Whiskey, Caddis, Urban Renewal, Madre Mezcal, Richard’s Rainwater, and Ford’s Gin, for their support in making the event possible.
It is important to note that while festival tickets are non-refundable, ticket holders have the option to transfer their tickets to another person’s name until September 10. After this date, ticket and tent transfers will no longer be permitted.
The Trans-Pecos Festival of Music + Love 2023 promises to be a fitting farewell to the current El Cosmico location while paving the way for an exciting new chapter in the festival’s history.
