Man arrested after fleeing deputies during warrant service in Jeff Davis County

A man wanted on an arrest warrant was taken into custody Thursday, Oct. 8, following a multiagency search near Interstate 10 in Jeff Davis County, according to the Jeff Davis County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were working as part of Operation Stonegarden when they attempted to serve an arrest warrant on Blake Beauchamp near Exit 181 along Interstate 10.

According to a statement released by the sheriff’s office, Beauchamp fled from law enforcement when deputies arrived, prompting a search involving multiple agencies.

Authorities eventually located Beauchamp and took him into custody. He was transported to the Hudspeth County Jail without further incident, the sheriff’s office said.

The operation involved assistance from Texas Department of Public Safety troopers, DPS Air Support, the Culberson County Sheriff’s Office and the Reeves County Sheriff’s Office.

Operation Stonegarden is a federally funded grant program administered through the Federal Emergency Management Agency that supports cooperation among federal, state and local law enforcement agencies in border security operations.

The Jeff Davis County Sheriff’s Office thanked the participating agencies for their assistance in locating and apprehending Beauchamp.

“We appreciate the cooperation and teamwork of all agencies involved in bringing this incident to a safe conclusion,” the sheriff’s office said in its statement.

Authorities did not disclose the underlying charge associated with Beauchamp’s arrest warrant or indicate whether additional charges would be filed in connection with his alleged flight from deputies.

The sheriff’s office also did not specify how long the search lasted or whether Beauchamp fled on foot or in a vehicle.

Beauchamp’s arrest was announced in a social media post accompanied by photographs showing a booking image and a man in handcuffs being escorted into a law enforcement vehicle.

The allegations underlying the warrant have not been detailed publicly in the sheriff’s office statement.
