A federal judge Friday blocked further ground-disturbing work on border barriers in the Big Bend region while a lawsuit challenging the projects moves forward, according to reporting by The Big Bend Sentinel.
U.S. District Judge Kathleen Cardone granted a preliminary injunction sought by the Center for Biological Diversity on behalf of Friends of the Ruidosa Church and Redford landowner and river guide Danny William Miller.
The lawsuit challenges five border barrier projects, arguing they violate constitutional protections, including separation of powers and property rights.
The ruling comes amid multiple legal challenges and widespread opposition to planned border infrastructure across the Big Bend. Six lawsuits have been filed over the projects.
