The Family Crisis Center of the Big Bend is seeking volunteers to help with an upcoming 5K event scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 10, at Sul Ross State University.
The organization said volunteers are needed for a variety of roles, including cheer and water stations, race timing, check-in, setup and cleanup.
The event will be held at the Zuzu Verk Memorial Amphitheater on the Sul Ross State University campus in Alpine.
Organizers emphasized that volunteers do not need to participate in the race to help with the event. Volunteers can assist runners, staff stations and help organizers prepare for and clean up after the 5K.
The Family Crisis Center of the Big Bend serves communities across the Big Bend region and provides services related to domestic violence, sexual assault and other violent crime.
People interested in volunteering can contact the organization at 432-837-7254 or send a message to the Family Crisis Center of the Big Bend.
The 5K is scheduled for Oct. 10, 2026.
