Hotel Paisano owners Harrison and Lauren King have acquired the Texas Theatre in a separate transaction and plan to use the historic Marfa venue as an event space capable of accommodating groups of up to 400 people.
The Texas Theatre is not owned by the Hotel Paisano and has a separate ownership structure. However, Lauren King told Big Bend Reporter that the theater will serve as an event venue for the hotel, substantially expanding the size of gatherings the Paisano can accommodate.
“The Texas Theatre will serve as an event space for Hotel Paisano so we can accommodate groups up to 400 — something not possible previously in any of the Hotel Paisano spaces,” King said.
The acquisition gives the Kings a large event venue that can complement the Hotel Paisano’s lodging, restaurant and bar operations while remaining separately owned.
The plans come as the Kings and their partners undertake a major renovation of the Hotel Paisano. Guest rooms were closed earlier than initially planned to accelerate the renovation, and the hotel’s new restaurant is now expected to open alongside the renovated rooms in spring 2027.
The Hotel Paisano Bar, meanwhile, is scheduled to reopen in October, serving guests in the courtyard and fireplace lounge while construction continues elsewhere at the hotel.
The Texas Theatre acquisition represents a separate investment by Harrison and Lauren King but will give the Hotel Paisano something it previously lacked: space to accommodate events of as many as 400 people.
