Drivers in Alpine will now be required to stop before crossing the railroad tracks on West Del Rio Street as the city prepares for an expected increase in train traffic.
The Alpine Police Department announced that stop signs have been installed at the West Del Rio railroad crossing, changing the traffic pattern at the crossing.
Police said the signs were placed because additional train traffic is expected in the near future.
Motorists should watch for the new stop signs and come to a complete stop before proceeding across the tracks. Drivers should also look and listen for approaching trains and avoid stopping on the tracks.
The department is urging drivers who regularly use West Del Rio Street to use caution as motorists adjust to the change.
