Barbecue, live music and a good cause will come together in Odessa next month for the High Steaks in the Basin cook-off competition.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Ector County Coliseum, with proceeds supporting Special Olympics Texas and the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Texas.
Gates will open at 10 a.m., with barbecue sampling scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Food trucks and vendors will be available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The day’s entertainment lineup includes Yverika from 10 to 11:30 a.m., 12 Mile from 12:15 to 1:45 p.m., West Bound Hearts from 2:30 to 4 p.m. and Caleb Young from 6 to 7:30 p.m. A DJ will provide music throughout the day.
The barbecue competition features a $100,000 purse, according to event organizers.
General admission is $10, while children younger than 9 are admitted free. VIP passes are available for $50.
