A new ice cream shop is preparing to open in Marfa, although its owners are keeping most of the details under wraps for now.
Silkies Ice Cream has begun teasing its arrival through a new Instagram account, @silkies_ice_cream, sharing stylized photographs of soft-serve ice cream served in cones, cups and distinctive ceramic dishes.
The account has so far revealed little about the business beyond its name and plans for Marfa. A location, opening date, hours and menu have not been announced.
Photos posted by Silkies show both vanilla- and chocolate-colored soft serve along with toppings including sprinkles, chocolate sauce and cherries. Several images feature the ice cream in handmade-looking ceramic bowls, while another shows a classic waffle cone against a West Texas sky.
The account had nine posts and more than 330 followers as of early Sunday, suggesting the mystery campaign is already attracting attention before the shop has formally introduced itself.
For now, Silkies appears to be taking the teaser approach: The ice cream is coming to Marfa. Exactly where — and exactly when — remains a mystery.
