Ten people were detained and firearms, ammunition, vehicles and communications equipment were seized during a series of law enforcement operations in Ojinaga, including two vehicles bearing Texas license plates, according to Chihuahua state security officials.
The Chihuahua Secretariat of Public Security said the arrests resulted from patrols and crime-prevention operations conducted by state police in coordination with federal authorities.
Four people — identified by authorities as Francisco A.A., Carlos Manuel G.O., Kimberly A.M. and Adriana Ireny V.O. — were detained for alleged violations of Mexico’s Federal Law on Firearms and Explosives.
Authorities said officers seized a handgun, a rifle, five magazines and 53 rounds of ammunition during that operation. They also seized a 2025 GMC Canyon with Texas license plates.
The four detainees and the seized property were turned over to federal authorities, according to the agency.
In a separate incident, state officers detained a 16-year-old on an allegation involving public safety after authorities said the teenager resisted officers’ instructions. The minor was not identified because of his age. Officers seized a 2004 Ford Mustang without license plates.
State security officers and personnel from Mexico’s Defense Ministry also detained two people during patrols along the Aldama-Ojinaga highway.
Authorities identified them as Jesús Florencio P.A., known as “El Greñas,” and Adriana Abigail M.C. Officials alleged the two were engaged in “halconeo,” a term commonly used in Mexico for acting as lookouts and reporting the movements or presence of law enforcement.
Authorities said officers seized a Hytera radio allegedly being used to alert others to the presence of security forces, along with a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado.
In another operation, officers detained 31-year-old Genaro P.H. on an allegation involving public safety and seized a Motorola cellphone. He was turned over to the Chihuahua Attorney General’s Office.
Two additional people, identified as Ramón C.V. and Nahum Javier L.D., were detained in the Porfirio Ornelas neighborhood for alleged firearms-law violations and possible involvement in other illegal activity, according to the state security agency.
Authorities said officers seized four 7.62×39 mm magazines, 45 rounds of ammunition, a ballistic plate and a 2012 Kia Sportage bearing Texas license plates.
The Secretariat of Public Security said the arrests were part of continuing enforcement efforts involving state and federal authorities in strategic areas of Chihuahua, including Ojinaga, which sits directly across the Rio Grande from Presidio, Texas.
Authorities described the allegations against those detained as preliminary. The arrests do not establish guilt, and the accused are entitled to the legal process under Mexican law.
