The Alpine Bucks will get an early test ahead of the upcoming high school football season when they host Van Horn in a scrimmage Friday evening.
The scrimmage is scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, at Buck Stadium in Alpine.
The preseason matchup will give Alpine coaches an opportunity to evaluate players in game-like conditions as the Bucks prepare for the start of regular-season competition.
For players, the scrimmage offers a chance to compete against an opposing team after weeks of summer workouts and preseason practices. Coaches can use the matchup to assess personnel, test offensive and defensive schemes and identify areas that need work before games begin counting in the standings.
Alpine is encouraging fans to come out to Buck Stadium and support the Bucks as football returns to Far West Texas.
