Sul Ross State University is accepting applications for a counselor and accessibility services coordinator at its Alpine campus.
The full-time position pays $60,000 annually plus benefits and will remain open until filled. The university posted the opening July 30.
The coordinator will provide individual and group counseling to students, respond to mental health crises, conduct educational programs and oversee all aspects of the university’s accessibility services program. Other duties include consulting with faculty and staff, referring students to off-campus providers and organizing programs addressing domestic violence, sexual assault, substance abuse and other mental health concerns.
Applicants must hold a master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work or a related mental health field and have at least two years of experience providing individual and group counseling. Candidates must also hold a current Texas license as a licensed professional counselor. Sul Ross said it may consider other licenses issued under the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council, including licensed clinical social worker credentials.
The university prefers candidates with additional continuing education relevant to higher education and supervisory credentials such as LPC-S or LCSW-S. Experience with virtual counseling, electronic health records, teaching, personnel supervision or management is also preferred.
The position may require travel and occasional evening or weekend work. It may supervise student employees, graduate students or licensed professional counselor associates, depending on the successful candidate’s credentials.

The university cautioned that a resume does not replace those entries and that incomplete applications may be rejected.
