Community members are invited to help paint a new public mural from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Baker’s Dozen Doughnuts, across from Alpine Elementary School.
The event will give residents the opportunity to work alongside artist Ramon Deanda to help complete the mural, part of an Alpine-Presidio sister mural project celebrating the culture, landscapes and history of the Big Bend region.
Organizers said all painting supplies will be provided, and no experience is necessary. The event is open to the public.
The mural, located on the side of Baker’s Dozen Doughnuts facing Alpine Elementary School, features imagery inspired by the region, including desert plants, wildlife and local architecture.
The project is funded through a grant from Humanities Texas and is supported by Visit Alpine, Texas, the Texas Mountain Trail program of the Texas Historical Commission, the Museum of the Big Bend and Spark! Places of Innovation.
