An unidentified person was found dead Tuesday morning along Highway 118 about 5 miles south of Kent, according to the Jeff Davis County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office said it was notified of the body at approximately 8 a.m. Deputies requested assistance from the Texas Rangers, and both agencies were conducting an active investigation at the scene.
Authorities had not identified the deceased person, and no additional details about the circumstances of the death were immediately released.
Motorists were advised to expect delays on Highway 118 and avoid the area while investigators remained at the scene.
The sheriff’s office said additional information would be released as it becomes available.
