The Food Pantry of Jeff Davis County has launched a new partnership with One Tail at a Time West Texas to provide free pet food to food pantry clients each month.
The program begins this month and is intended to help residents facing financial hardship care for their pets while meeting household needs.
According to the food pantry, the monthly pet food distribution is made possible through a partnership with One Tail at a Time West Texas, a foster-based, no-kill rescue organization serving communities across Far West Texas, including Alpine, Marfa, Presidio, Pecos, McCamey, Van Horn, Terrell County and surrounding areas.
Food pantry officials said the additional assistance is expected to ease financial strain for many families.
“For many of our clients, this will be a huge financial relief,” the organization said in a social media announcement. “Pets matter. For some, they are the only companion for days or weeks.”
The pantry thanked One Tail at a Time West Texas for helping expand services to local residents, saying the partnership will strengthen support for the community.
The organizations said free pet food will now be available each month to eligible food pantry clients in Jeff Davis County.
