A burn ban is in effect across Jeff Davis County for the next 90 days, according to the Fort Davis Fire Department.
Residents who need to conduct a controlled burn must first contact Fort Davis Volunteer Fire Department Chief Pat Olivas or their local volunteer fire department for approval, the department said in a social media post Sunday.
Fire officials encouraged residents to remain cautious as rain continues in the area.
