Talarico draws packed crowd at Marfa rally in Senate campaign

Democratic U.S. Senate candidate James Talarico drew a large crowd Sunday afternoon at Capri Marfa as supporters gathered to hear the state representative make his case for unseating Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.

The event, organized by local supporters, featured free admission, music and refreshments, with attendees filling the venue and spilling into outdoor areas. Organizers had required advance RSVPs due to limited capacity.

Talarico, an Austin-area legislator and former public school teacher, is seeking the Democratic nomination for one of Texas’ U.S. Senate seats. Supporters at the Marfa event described the race as one with implications beyond Texas, citing the possibility that the outcome could influence the balance of power in the U.S. Senate.

Far West Texas has historically seen limited visits from statewide candidates, making the Marfa stop a notable campaign appearance for the region.

The rally was hosted at Capri Marfa, where attendees gathered beginning at 4 p.m. before Talarico’s remarks later in the evening. Organizers promoted the event as free and open to the public, though capacity restrictions required reservations in advance.

The Marfa appearance is part of Talarico’s broader effort to build support across Texas as the 2026 election cycle gains momentum.
