Marfa ratifies $40,000 EMS grant agreement

Marfa City Council ratified a $40,000 grant agreement between the Big Bend Regional Hospital District and the City of Marfa for emergency medical services equipment.

Legal Consultant Teresa Todd said the agreement had already been signed to begin the grant process and was being brought to council for formal ratification.

EMS Director Jessie Pefra said the grant will be used to purchase new equipment, including an ultrasound unit, CPAP equipment, a LUCAS chest compression device and RAD-97 monitoring devices.

Pefra said the equipment will enhance EMS services, help ensure both ambulances are similarly equipped and improve emergency medical care in the region.

Council Member Raul Lara made the motion to ratify the agreement. Mayor Pro Tem Mark Cash seconded the motion, which passed 5-0.
