Army Veteran Ben Canaba Named Grand Marshal of Hudspeth County Fourth of July Parade

Hudspeth County officials have named Army veteran Ben Canaba as grand marshal of the county’s Fourth of July Parade as residents gather to celebrate the nation’s 250th anniversary.

Canaba, a longtime community volunteer and member of a family with a tradition of military service, was selected in recognition of his service to both the United States and the local community.

Organizers said Canaba has spent years helping neighbors and volunteering at community events, often working behind the scenes without seeking recognition. Residents frequently see him stopping to assist stranded motorists, lending a hand to neighbors and supporting local causes.

“Ben is the kind of person who serves not for recognition, but simply because it’s who he is,” organizers said in the announcement.

Canaba served in the U.S. Army and has remained active in community service following his military career. Organizers also highlighted his dedication to family and his willingness to help others whenever needed.

The selection comes as communities across the country mark the 250th anniversary of the United States. Local officials said Canaba’s example of service, kindness and patriotism makes him a fitting choice to lead this year’s parade.

The Fourth of July celebration is expected to bring residents and visitors together to honor the nation’s history and recognize those who have contributed to the community through service and volunteerism.

Canaba will lead the parade festivities as Hudspeth County joins Americans nationwide in celebrating Independence Day and the nation’s semiquincentennial.
