A traveling photography exhibit featuring the work of military veterans will be on display at the Alpine Public Library from July 3 through Aug. 9.
“Healing Under the Stars” showcases 12 large-scale astrophotography prints created by veterans participating in the CreatiVets Astrophotography Program. The exhibit explores the connections between creativity, science, healing and the night sky through images captured by veterans from across the country.
According to organizers, the program uses art and astronomy as tools for personal expression, stress relief and community building. The initiative also places a special emphasis on reaching Native American veterans through themes of identity, ancestry and humanity’s shared connection to the stars.
The exhibit is part of the Spark! Places of Innovation program and is being presented through the Texas Mountain Trail region. Organizers say the photographs reflect the participants’ personal journeys while highlighting the beauty of the night sky.
The exhibit will be available for public viewing during regular library hours at the Alpine Public Library.
Admission is free. Visitors can view the collection from July 3 through Aug. 9.
