Motorcyclist Arrested After Allegedly Fleeing Traffic Stop in Terrell County

A motorcyclist was arrested east of Sanderson after allegedly attempting to flee from a deputy who initiated a traffic stop following an observed traffic violation, according to the Terrell County Sheriff’s Office.

Terrell County Sheriff Thaddeus Cleveland said in a social media post that a deputy assigned to Operation Lone Star observed a traffic violation and attempted to stop the motorcycle rider. The rider then allegedly attempted to evade law enforcement.

Authorities said the pursuit ended with the rider’s arrest. The individual was charged with evading arrest and reckless driving.

Photos released by the sheriff’s office showed the rider in custody, a patrol vehicle on the roadside, and the motorcycle involved in the incident.

Operation Lone Star is a Texas state initiative that deploys law enforcement personnel and resources to support border security and public safety efforts in counties along and near the Texas-Mexico border.

Sheriff Cleveland praised the deputy’s actions following the arrest.

“Great work by our deputies in helping keep Terrell County’s roadways safe,” Cleveland said in the post.

No additional details about the traffic violation, the length of the pursuit, or the rider’s identity were immediately released.

The charges remain allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
