Texas State Parks seeks operations ranger for Barton Warnock Visitor Center

Texas State Parks is seeking applicants for a newly opened maintenance specialist position at the Barton Warnock Visitor Center in West Texas, according to a recently posted recruitment notice.

The position, officially titled Maintenance Specialist III (Operations Ranger), is based at the newly opened Barton Warnock Visitor Center and includes responsibility for maintaining park facilities, grounds, trails, equipment and visitor services. The monthly salary is listed at $3,920.64.

According to the posting, the employee will perform a wide range of duties under the supervision of a maintenance supervisor, including building maintenance and construction, groundskeeping, plumbing, electrical work, mowing, fence repair, water line maintenance and daily janitorial duties. The position also involves operating heavy equipment and tools, including chainsaws, tractors and mowers.

The role includes responsibilities beyond maintenance, such as assisting with visitor services, interpretive and guide programs, tours, public relations and revenue collection.

Texas State Parks said the position requires a team effort to help maintain and restore more than 600,000 acres of state parks, natural areas and historic sites visited by more than 10 million people annually.
