“No Wall on Wheels” Organizers Plan Community Meetings in Alpine, Marfa and Presidio

Organizers opposing a proposed border wall project in the Big Bend region are planning a series of community meetings Wednesday, June 3, in Alpine, Marfa and Presidio under the banner “No Wall on Wheels.”

According to a flyer circulating online, the meetings are intended to provide information and discussion opportunities surrounding concerns about border infrastructure, with organizers encouraging community members to discuss strategies, rallies, communication efforts, media outreach, merchandise and ways to support the effort.

The first meeting is scheduled for 10 a.m. in Alpine at The Ritchey. A second meeting is planned for 1 p.m. on the courthouse lawn in Marfa, followed by a 5 p.m. gathering at Saint Francis Park in Presidio.

The flyer features slogans including “No Wall! No Wire! No Way!” and poses the question, “What can we do?” to encourage participation and community involvement.

Organizers say the meetings are intended to help residents share information and discuss opposition efforts related to border wall expansion and related infrastructure in the region.
