Visitors and local residents will have an opportunity to explore their artistic side next week as Big Bend National Park welcomes artist Julia Fletcher for a free pastel workshop as part of its Artist in Residence program.
Fletcher, a pastel artist serving as the park’s Artist in Residence from June 1–13, will lead an interactive public program on June 4 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Panther Junction Visitor Center community room.
According to organizers, Fletcher will demonstrate pastel techniques and share tips for working with the medium before participants create their own pastel artwork inspired by Big Bend landscapes.
The workshop is free and open to all ages, and materials will be provided.
The event is part of Big Bend National Park’s Artist in Residence program, which brings artists to the park to create work inspired by the region’s landscapes while engaging the public through educational programs and demonstrations.
