Alpine Independent School District honored five longtime educators Thursday during a retirement celebration recognizing decades of service to public education and the district.
The district described the retirements as “bittersweet” and celebrated the educators as “Lifetime Bucks,” recognizing the impact they made on generations of students in Alpine.
Among those honored was Jean Sierra, who retired after eight years in public education, all with Alpine ISD. Nabor Gonzales retired following 12 years in public education, also entirely with the district.
Doug Fox concluded a 26-year career in public education, including 25 years at Alpine ISD, while Caroline Fox retired after 30 years in education, with 25 of those years spent serving Alpine students.
The district also recognized Clinnell McComb, who retired after 53 years in public education — all of them with Alpine ISD.
In a statement, the district thanked the retirees for their dedication, saying their service “made an impact on thousands of Alpine children” and praising them for exemplifying what it means to be a Buck.
The retirement celebration took place Thursday afternoon and highlighted the educators’ combined decades of service to students and families in the Alpine community.
