Fort Stockton Public Library Launches 2026 Summer Reading Program With Dinosaur Theme

The Fort Stockton Public Library is inviting children and adults to participate in its 2026 Summer Reading Program, a free annual initiative aimed at encouraging literacy and keeping young readers engaged during the summer break.

This year’s program theme, “Unearth a Story,” focuses on dinosaurs, archaeology and paleontology as part of the statewide Texas Reading Club program administered through the Texas State Library.

According to the library, the summer reading initiative is designed to help students maintain reading levels during the school break while encouraging reading for pleasure and sparking imagination through themed activities.

The program officially kicks off June 4, with registration opening May 16 at the library. Participants are asked to complete a minimum of eight hours of reading and submit their reading logs by July 16.

Those who complete the program will receive incentives including a movie certificate, a book and a completion bag.

Library officials said the program is open to both children and adults at no cost, with community donations helping fund incentives and special activities throughout the summer.
