Fourth grade students from Alpine Elementary School recently got a firsthand look at college life during a visit to Sul Ross State University, where they toured the campus and participated in activities aimed at introducing them to higher education.
According to Alpine Independent School District, the students spent the day exploring the local university as part of a college readiness experience designed to familiarize young learners with campus life and future educational opportunities.
School officials thanked Sul Ross State University for welcoming the students and providing a campus tour, calling the experience an opportunity to inspire the next generation of learners.
“We’re not sure they’re quite ready for college yet, but they are definitely ready for fifth grade,” Alpine ISD wrote in a social media post highlighting the visit.
Photos shared by the district showed students gathering outdoors, touring university facilities and participating in group activities around campus as they learned more about college life in Alpine.
The visit reflects ongoing efforts by schools to expose students to higher education opportunities at an early age and encourage future academic achievement.
