Big Bend Natural History Association releases 2027 park calendar

The Big Bend Natural History Association has released its 2027 Big Bend National Park calendar featuring photography by former park ranger Blake A. Trester.

According to the association, Trester has photographed nature for more than 40 years and first visited Big Bend National Park in the early 1980s, later returning regularly to document the region’s landscapes, wildlife and seasonal changes.

Trester joined the National Park Service in 2002 and became a park ranger at Big Bend National Park in 2006. During his decade at the park, he explored remote areas and photographed the region under a wide range of conditions, including floods, snowstorms and superblooms.

His work has appeared in publications including Texas Parks & Wildlife, Texas Highways and Outdoor Photographer, as well as National Park Service publications, websites and interpretive displays throughout the park.

The association said the 2027 calendar showcases the beauty and diversity of Big Bend National Park through photographs gathered over years of exploration and fieldwork.

The calendar is available through the Big Bend Natural History Association online store.
