Henry’s restaurant opens inside historic Hotel El Capitan in Van Horn

Hotel El Capitan has announced the opening of Henry’s, a new restaurant and cocktail destination inspired by architect Henry Trost, whose work helped define many historic buildings across West Texas.

According to the hotel, the restaurant blends regional cuisine, craft cocktails and the property’s historic character. Signature menu offerings include green chili artichoke dip, Henry’s Salad, pistachio fried steak and key lime pie. The restaurant’s featured cocktail, the “Trostini,” is named after the architect.

Hotel El Capitan described the new venue as a place where “history mixes with hand-cut steaks and craft cocktails,” while emphasizing a Texas-inspired atmosphere tied to Van Horn’s historic roots.

The hotel, originally established in 1930 and designed by Trost, has long served as one of Van Horn’s best-known landmarks. Henry’s is positioned as a new dining option for both travelers and local residents in the growing West Texas hospitality corridor.

The restaurant is now open inside the hotel at 100 E. Broadway in Van Horn.
