Marfa ISD students raised $8,900 for a West Texas animal charity through a creative project that combined art, community service and support for pet adoption efforts.
According to Marfa ISD, students in Ms. Adele Powers’ art classes designed and created auction paddles that helped generate funds for One Tail at a Time West Texas, a nonprofit organization that supports pet adoption initiatives in the region.
The district said the project benefited Pet Marfa Adoption Center & Pet Supply and other animal welfare efforts aimed at helping pets find permanent homes.
As part of the experience, students recently visited Pet Marfa to meet some of the dogs their work helped support. School officials said the visit gave students an opportunity to see firsthand how their efforts could make a difference for animals in need.
Marfa ISD praised the students for using their creativity and talents to serve the community and support animal welfare causes.
The district also thanked One Tail at a Time West Texas, Ms. Adele Powers, Mrs. Donaldson, Mrs. Loya and Pet Marfa for helping make the project possible.
