Former Alpine Cowboys standout Drake Angeron is returning to the organization as a member of the team’s coaching staff, the club announced.
Angeron, a former Cowboys MVP and the franchise’s all-time stolen base leader, played a key role during his time with the Alpine-based summer collegiate baseball team. The Cowboys welcomed him back in a social media announcement highlighting his accomplishments on the field and his return to the dugout.
The Alpine Cowboys, founded in 1946, compete in the Pecos League and have long served as a summer destination for collegiate baseball players from across the country.
Angeron’s addition to the coaching staff brings former playing experience and familiarity with the organization as the Cowboys continue preparations for the upcoming season.
