The Alpine Animal Services has named Vina its Pet of the Week and is offering the dog for adoption at a reduced fee through the end of the day.
Vina can be adopted for $50, half the shelter’s normal adoption fee. The adoption includes her spay procedure, heartworm test, microchip and vaccinations.
According to shelter staff, Vina arrived at the shelter April 20 after being transferred from another rescue organization that had been unable to place her in a permanent home. Staff said Vina had been with that rescue since she was a puppy and spent about a year waiting for adoption.
Shelter workers said Vina was initially uncomfortable after arriving in Alpine because she had only known one environment for most of her life, but quickly adjusted and began socializing with other dogs.
Staff described Vina as playful and friendly with other dogs and said she has done well in large play groups. She is also learning to walk on a leash and improving each day. Shelter workers noted she will likely need some potty training but said she is intelligent and eager to learn.
“She is always happy to see you,” shelter staff said of Vina, describing her as gentle, quiet and known for her shy smile.
Those interested in meeting Vina can visit Alpine Animal Services Shelter at 2900 Old Marathon Highway in Alpine.
