Indian Lodge at Davis Mountains State Park is seeking housekeeping park hosts for the summer season at the historic lodge in Jeff Davis County.
According to Texas State Parks, the volunteer positions will help support Indian Lodge, the only historic hotel in the Texas State Parks system built by the Civilian Conservation Corps.
The park is seeking both single hosts and couples. Single hosts are required to work 24 hours per week, while couple hosts are expected to work a combined 32 hours per week.
In exchange, hosts receive a full hook-up RV site, access to commercial washers and dryers, access to the swimming pool and the opportunity to spend the summer in the higher elevations of the Davis Mountains, known for cooler temperatures compared to much of Texas.
The lodge is located within driving distance of several major regional destinations, including Big Bend National Park, Guadalupe Mountains National Park and Carlsbad Caverns National Park.
Texas Parks and Wildlife Department officials described the opportunity as a chance to “be a part of history while making memories” while working alongside staff in one of the state’s most scenic park systems.
Those interested can apply online through the Texas Parks and Wildlife volunteer portal or contact Kari Crisp at kari.crisp@tpwd.texas.gov or 432-249-2698 for more information.
