Alpine ISD awarded $50,000 TEA grant for paid student internships

Alpine ISD has been awarded a $50,000 Summer Career and Technical Education grant from the Texas Education Agency to launch a new paid internship program for Alpine High School students.

The program, called “Bucks at Work,” will provide students with paid summer internships in the Alpine community while helping them gain hands-on experience in career fields and workplace skills.

According to the district, the initiative is designed to help students explore future careers, earn income during the summer and strengthen the future workforce of the Big Bend region.

Alpine ISD also said local businesses and organizations will be able to host student interns at no cost through the program, creating new partnerships between the school district and the community.

District officials described the grant as a major opportunity for students, local employers and the broader Alpine community.

Additional information is expected soon for Alpine High School students interested in applying for internships and for businesses interested in hosting interns this summer.
