Fort Davis Independent School District will host its second annual Science Mill STEM Camp from June 8–11, offering students in grades 3 through 5 a week of hands-on learning in science, technology, engineering and math.
The camp will run from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day at Dirks-Anderson School. Students attending are asked to bring a lunch and a water bottle.
Branded as “STEM Quest: Operation Innovation,” the program is part of the Science Mill’s STEM Career Immersion Camp and will feature activities designed to encourage exploration and problem-solving. Organizers say participants will build and test engineering challenges, learn basic coding using Micro:bit devices, and experiment with concepts involving water, bubbles and magnets.
Additional activities include designing chain-reaction machines, exploring ecosystems and invasive species, and creating fiber-optic constellations. A STEM showcase highlighting student work is planned at the end of the week.
Registration information is available through the district’s posted link.
