Alpine Animal Services is spotlighting Vina as its Pet of the Week, offering a reduced $50 adoption fee through Sunday, May 10, according to a recent social media post.
The fee, which is half the standard cost, includes spay services, a heartworm test, microchipping and all vaccinations.
Vina arrived at the shelter April 20 after being transferred from another rescue that was unable to place her in a permanent home. Shelter staff said she had been with that rescue since she was a puppy, spending about a year there before coming to Alpine.
Staff members said Vina was initially unsure in her new environment but quickly adjusted, becoming comfortable and social with other dogs. She has done well in large play groups and enjoys interacting with other animals.
Vina is currently learning to walk on a leash and continues to improve, according to the shelter. She will need some potty training but is described as intelligent and likely to learn quickly.
Shelter staff also described Vina as gentle, quiet and eager to greet visitors, noting her “shy, awkward smile” as one of her most endearing traits.
Those interested in adopting Vina can visit Alpine Animal Services at 2900 Old Marathon Highway in Alpine.
