Agents with the U.S. Border Patrol’s Big Bend Sector seized more than $73,000 worth of marijuana and THC products during a recent traffic stop at the Sierra Blanca checkpoint, officials said.
According to a social media post from the sector, agents and a K-9 unit alerted on a vehicle during an inspection. A subsequent search led to the discovery of multiple packages of marijuana and THC products concealed inside the vehicle.
Authorities said the seizure prevented the narcotics from reaching communities, though additional details about the driver, potential charges or the exact quantity of drugs were not immediately released.
The Sierra Blanca checkpoint, located along Interstate 10 in Hudspeth County, is a major inland inspection station where Border Patrol agents routinely screen vehicles for immigration violations and contraband.
