Author, artist to host ‘Grandma’s Ranchito’ meet-and-greet at Alpine bookstore

A local author and artist will host a family-friendly meet-and-greet event at Front Street Books on May 9.

Dr. Jeanne Qvarnstrom, author of Grandma’s Ranchito, and artist Amanda Calhoun will appear from 1 to 3 p.m., offering signed copies of the book and meeting with attendees. The event is open to children and families.

Qvarnstrom has served as a professor of education at Sul Ross State University since 2012 and is active in regional education initiatives, including public reading programs and academic conferences.

Calhoun, an Alpine-based artist, is known for her ceramic work inspired by pop culture and desert landscapes. Her work also appears in public spaces, including a painted water tank at Kokernot Park.

Organizers say the event offers an opportunity for the community to engage with the creators behind the book and celebrate local talent.
