The Alpine Public Library will celebrate Children’s Book Week from May 4–10 with a series of family-friendly activities aimed at promoting reading, creativity and curiosity.
The weeklong event invites children and families to visit the library for activities such as coloring pages, free bookmarks and opportunities to discover new books. The celebration is part of the national Children’s Book Week initiative, which highlights the joy of reading and children’s literature.
Library organizers are also encouraging participation in a “Curiosity Club,” where children can choose topics of interest, explore related books and engage in self-directed learning.
Children’s Book Week, which dates back to 1919, is an annual event supported by the nonprofit Every Child a Reader. The 2026 theme, “Books: Get Curious,” emphasizes exploration and imagination through reading.
Library officials said the event is designed to bring the community together and encourage families to make reading a regular part of their lives.
