The Judd Foundation has opened Donald Judd’s Ranch Office to the public as part of its guided visit program, offering visitors a new opportunity to experience the artist’s work in the setting he designed.
The building, located in Marfa, is permanently installed with reliefs and floor works by Donald Judd, allowing guests to engage directly with his exploration of space and three-dimensional form.
Originally constructed at the turn of the 20th century, the structure was later repurposed by Judd as his Ranch Office. The façade features the letters “AdeC,” referencing Ayala de Chinati, his ranch in the Chinati Mountains, along with the number “76,” marking the year he first acquired land in the area.
Foundation officials say the site offers insight into Judd’s approach to integrating art, architecture and the surrounding landscape, a hallmark of his work in the region.
