The Museum of the Big Bend has announced dates for the 40th annual Trappings of Texas, a long-running exhibit and sale celebrating Western art and custom cowboy gear.
The 2026 event will run from Sept. 17 through Oct. 31 at the museum, located on the campus of Sul Ross State University in Alpine.
Trappings of Texas is widely regarded as the longest-running exhibit and sale of its kind, bringing together artists, collectors and craftsmen whose work reflects the traditions and culture of the American West.
The exhibition will feature contemporary Western artwork and handcrafted gear, with opening events expected to include artist demonstrations, receptions and other public programming tied to the show’s kickoff weekend.
The exhibit will remain on display through the end of October, giving visitors several weeks to view and purchase works from participating artists and makers.
