Voices From Both Sides gathering set to return May 9 at Paso Lajitas

Organizers of the annual Voices From Both Sides gathering announced the event will return Saturday, May 9, bringing together community members from both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border for a day centered on unity, fellowship and cultural connection.

The event, also known as Voces de Ambos Lados, is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. along the Rio Grande/Río Bravo del Norte at Paso Lajitas. Organizers described it as a longstanding tradition that convenes families, friends and neighbors to celebrate shared ties across the border region.

In a public announcement, organizers said the gathering is intended to be “a fun and love-filled day” highlighting the cultural and social bonds that define the borderlands. Attendees are encouraged to participate in a spirit of peace and solidarity.

Event leaders also asked participants to refrain from using the gathering as a platform for protest, emphasizing that the focus should remain on community, kindness and mutual respect.

The nonprofit group behind the event listed board members including Katheran Crawford, Tony Drewry, Becky Kay, Sandi Turvan and Missy Walker, along with advisors Collie and Cynta.

Organizers said those with questions or concerns can contact board members directly for additional information.

The event has historically drawn large crowds to the riverbanks, where participants gather in the water and along the shoreline in a symbolic show of unity between communities on both sides of the border.
