First-grade students from Alpine Elementary School recently visited the Chihuahuan Desert Research Institute for a day of hands-on learning focused on the natural world.
According to a post from Alpine ISD, students took part in a guided hike and learned about the life cycles of frogs and birds, food chains and the parts of a flower.
The district described the outing as a fun day filled with discovery and outdoor learning. Photos shared by the district show students participating in activities and crafts during the visit.
The trip gave students a chance to explore science concepts outside the classroom while learning more about the region’s environment.
