A Fort Davis man has been arrested in Hudspeth County on seven outstanding warrants issued out of Jeff Davis County, according to a social media post by the Jeff Davis County Sheriff’s Office.
The agency identified the man as Jorge Chavez Paramo. Authorities said Hudspeth County officials, working with Jeff Davis County Sheriff Victor Lopez and Hudspeth County Capt. E. Wolf, located Chavez and took him into custody without incident.
The sheriff’s office described the arrest as the result of coordinated efforts between agencies and said the cooperation led to a “safe and efficient” outcome.
Details about the nature of the warrants were not immediately provided in the post.
The announcement comes as scrutiny has increased around warrant practices in Jeff Davis County. In a separate case, Big Bend Times publisher David Flash previously faced warrants issued out of the county that were later adjudicated baseless. Flash was arrested in another county in connection with those warrants, and the charges were ultimately dismissed.
It was not immediately clear whether Chavez has obtained legal representation or when he is expected to appear in court.
