Athletes from District 9-A and District 10-A will compete in the Area Track and Field Championships on Friday, April 17, in Balmorhea.
The meet will begin with a coaches meeting from 9 to 9:45 a.m., followed by implement weigh-in from 9 to 10 a.m., both at the field house. The first running event, the 3,200-meter run, is scheduled for 10:30 a.m., with girls competing first, followed by boys.
Field events will be divided into two sessions. The first session begins at 11:30 a.m., featuring girls discus, high jump and triple jump, alongside boys shot put, long jump and pole vault. The second session starts at 1:30 p.m., with girls competing in shot put, long jump and pole vault, while boys compete in discus, high jump and triple jump.
Running finals are scheduled to begin approximately 1½ hours after the conclusion of the second field event session, with the official start time posted on the scoreboard.
The finals lineup includes the 4×100 relay, 800-meter run, 100-meter hurdles (girls) and 110-meter hurdles (boys), 100-meter dash, 4×200 relay, 400-meter dash, 300-meter hurdles, 200-meter dash, 1,600-meter run and 4×400 relay, with five-minute rest intervals between most events.
An awards presentation for the 3,200-meter run and field events will take place 20 minutes before the start of the running finals.
